What is Sound Healing?

Sound is a gentle yet powerful tool for supporting rest, relaxation and emotional balance. At Seven Lion Yard, we offer both dedicated sound baths and the subtle use of sound within our yoga, breathwork and meditation classes. Whether experienced as an immersive session or a supportive element within other practices, sound can help create space for stillness, ease and connection.

We currently offer:

  • Sound Baths
Our sound baths are immersive, guided sessions where you can simply lie down and receive. Using instruments like singing bowls, gongs, Koshi chimes and other resonant tools, we create a soundscape designed to support deep rest and nervous system regulation. The session is non-invasive, with no effort required — just time to slow down and be.
  • Sound in Classes
In many of our regular yoga and breathwork classes, sound is used sparingly and intentionally. Chimes, bowls and soft tonal instruments may be included to mark transitions, support stillness, or deepen the sense of grounding in the body. These additions are subtle, not overwhelming, and carefully chosen to enhance the experience without distraction.

Benefits

  • People come to sound healing for a range of reasons, including:
  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Improving sleep and energy
  • Supporting emotional release or clarity
  • Deepening meditation and body awareness
  • Easing tension and promoting rest

How Does Sound Healing Work?

Sound works on both a physiological and psychological level. Certain tones, rhythms and frequencies are known to help regulate the nervous system, calm the mind and support a shift from stress to rest. Vibrations from instruments like singing bowls can also be felt in the body, which may contribute to a sense of grounding and release.

Many people simply find that sound helps them feel more relaxed, present and connected — especially when other forms of meditation or rest feel hard to access. It offers an accessible way to enter a restorative state without needing to focus or “do” anything.

Summary

At Seven Lion Yard, we see sound as a quiet, accessible way to support your wellbeing — whether through full sound baths or small additions to other practices. It’s not about fixing or forcing anything, but simply creating the conditions for rest, reflection and reconnection.
